The Certified Lover Boys: The Art of Being EXTRA

Updated: Aug 17

Certified Lover Boys, a duo musical group in San Andreas that we’ve all heard of one way or another, from their recent commercial success in media, or ads with their new drink partnered with Arcola, but most importantly all their musical performances everyone enjoys at major events. The Certified Lover Boys, or CLB for short, have been prominent in media for nearly a year now, with their biggest event coming up in just a few short weeks. But how did they get here? We’re going to rewind and recap just a bit to catch everyone up on the story of CLB.

Damien Daniels and Nicholai Solemko, also known as PAX, created their hit song “Bad Energy” before they officially formed their group, releasing it shortly after they announced the name of their duo group to the public. Originally signed under Kokoro, the first album was titled as “Certified Lover Boys” in order to get the name out there. They reached commercial success during their time at Kokoro, playing live shows and releasing new music for the public. Although during their time in Kokoro, starting all the way back in October 2023, they’ve been hard at work preparing and writing their biggest album yet (More on that later).

Sometime passed while working under Kokoro, and they decided to separate from that record label due to conflicting views on how a label should operate. After leaving Kokoro, they went independent, mostly focusing on creating their upcoming album now titled “Hard to Love, Easy to Hate.” During their independent phase, they became close with Dre and Mills from Savage Records, and eventually felt better represented by them as a record label and were pulled in by the style of label they are. They signed with Savage shortly after, starting their next phase in their musical duo career.

They may have signed shortly after, but their time signed with Savage was also short lived. Daniels had a disagreement with Mills over representation and advertisement within Savage, reportedly “going too far” and turning it into an argument. He was frustrated that their ideas and vision for the company did not align with the owner’s vision. This left Daniels being terminated from the label, and in turn, PAX followed Damien and split from the company.

Started off 9 months ago with Kokoro, moving onto Savage, now solo temporarily once again. But with big plans, they approached Charlotte Baker to have her work as their manager, with her now being the official third member of CLB. Together, they founded Love Lost Records to have full control over how they feel a label should run. Created on the basis of their previous endeavours and ideas they pitched to other companies. Changes they wanted to make, in their experience, they felt that previous labels did not promote their artists enough. With their new label, they want to make sure that their artist is promoted through media as well as many more events.

With Love Loss created, they continued to finish their upcoming album, which they kindly shared details with us for the public.

"The album is called Hard to Love, Easy to Hate. We just really want people to know it’s an emotional experience, It’s a roller coaster of the experience of an everyday relationship. The ups, the downs, the lefts, the rights. It’s a very emotional, extra experience.”

Pax and Daniels describe this album as “Very relatable. Not all sad. It has the happys, the sads, the I don’t knows. This is something significantly different than our usual stuff.” Going on to say that this is the biggest event they’ve ever held, so we’re pretty excited!
