The air is crisp, the leaves are falling and the pumpkins are rotting. We all know what that means. Yep, It’s nearing that time of year again. The time of year where the snow covers the land from the docks of Los Santos, to the shores of Paleto. Snowy mountains and slick ice that is sure to spin you off the road with one false move. But maybe it won’t be as bad as last year? Maybe it’ll be a warm Christmas?

We interviewed some experts on the matter who have done the research so you don’t have to, and while it’s not 100% accurate this early on, it’s estimated for Los Santos to receive anywhere from 22 to a staggering 46 inches of snowfall, while Sandy Shores is estimated to get 12 to 20 inches of snow, with both areas’ temperatures estimated to drop as low as 7 degrees Fahrenheit (-13 degrees Celsius for our non-American readers). To put it in perspective, the freezing point of water is 32 degrees Fahrenheit (0 degrees Celsius).
With the temperature skydiving rapidly, everyone should stay prepared for the worst, so stay bundled up, don’t stay in wet clothing and prepare for the possibility of sweater weather at anytime, just like yesterday’s sneak peak of a snowstorm.
On the topic of yesterday’s sudden blizzard, many citizens had mixed reactions towards it. Some embracing that winter is finally here, others wishing they had a bit more time to sunbathe on the beaches of San Andreas. Our friend from Weazel News, Stella Day, included a section about this blizzard in her newest Stella’s Scoops. She is a citable source that experienced this spontaneous phenomenon first hand, with her stating in the article: “I was driving my tow truck in the blizzard and I could barely see several feet in front of me. I was driving slowly so I could stay in my lane as best as I could and not hit any oncoming vehicles… Drive slowly and safely in the snow if you can’t see where you’re going. Also, to avoid getting hit by someone, maybe be as visible as possible with bright colors that will give you contrast from the road and the snow.”
Useless News interviewed random people on what they plan to do to counter this upcoming treacherous blizzard in hopes to help other citizens to prepare. The experts we spoke to recommended that all super car owners park their sweet rides up for the winter to avoid falling victim to hydroplaning, a phenomenon where the tires of a vehicle start to lose contact with the surface they’re on and slide over a layer of ice, causing the driver to lose all control over the vehicle. So unless you plan to replace your tires with ice skates, there’s no point in bringing out that Paragon R.
Bergowitz Off-Road Tier List: The team at Useless News and the Edgerunners Off-Road Club created a tier list of the off-road section at Bergowitz to help new comers get into off-roading this winter. You can read our tier list here as well as all the data recorded. Alternate link: tinyurl.com/bergtierlist. The tier list is based on 6 categories, with a max of 5 points each: Speed off-road, hill climb capability, handling on dirt, handling on grass, handling through swamp, and going over barriers. These were all tested stock with 7 different experienced off-road drivers and racers.
Remember, the freezing cold isn’t the only thing dangerous in a snowstorm. Visibility, slippery ice, paths blocked by snow, falling ice, you name it. So much can go wrong during the winter wonderland season, and everyone needs to be sure they are prepared. With low visibility, vehicles can collide and build up accidents, especially if you’re driving a low to the ground vehicle. Vehicles, such as trucks, will have a higher chance of being spotted before it’s too late, which is why the team at Useless News put our funds together to purchase a Declasse Draugur so we can continue our production of videos and articles during this heavy upcoming blizzard and not risk any fatal accidents.
We want to remind everyone to be safe during this time, as I’m sure there will be plenty of events to hold you over until this winter blows over and you can get back to being a street racer…. Unless San Andreas Racing Association holds some off-road winter rally races 🙂
