Ooh a shiny trinket, you know you love it. What’s better than it being shiny? That it’s the only known artifact of it’s kind. Today, we’re going to be showcasing this truly incredible little collectible that was recently discovered only a few short months ago.
This commendable pendant was recently unearthed by a team of excavators in the Nanjing region of China in late 2023 from the remains of an ancient town. Now while the history of the pendant originated from the imperial Ming Dynasty of China, experts placed its origin between 1572 and 1620 using carbon dating.
This shiny gold pendant is thought to have belonged to Emperor Shenzong of Ming, since many of his other treasures and trinkets were found either alongside it, or in the same region of Nanjing. It’s made of solid gold, weighs 2.1 oz, and is inlaid with the finest red jadeite. An absolute one-of-a-kind treasure, there have been no other artifacts unearthed or discovered quite like it.
The auction will be held on February 10th, with the bidding starting at $10,000. The whole item set includes the unique gold pendant, the decorative display case, and the certificate of full authentication from the Chinese Institute of Archaeology, so you can show off to all your friends that yes, you really do own an ancient piece of history.
Our friends at Zimports also wanted all you avid collectors to know that, starting February 1st, they will be hosting a special Valentines item sale which will run all the way until February 14th, so keep an eye out for that!
